The Atom was my first computer at the age of 13. I bought it at the introduction of the electron, when the price for the atom dropped from some 400 euro's to 150 euros. The electron was over 450 euro's at the time.
I can remember that the heatsink used to get extremely hot, almost melting the cover when left on for a long time. It was possible to solder extensions directly on to the mainboard, many added a rs232 connector like this.
